What should I expect?

Grace and hospitality. We understand that attending a new church gathering for the first time can sometimes feel awkward, especially if you wouldn’t consider yourself a Christian or are used to a particular kind of church. Our goal is to provide both Christians and non-Christians alike with the safety and space to come together and learn all about who Jesus is and how He changes everything. Questions? You can visit our Connect Table for more info on who we are and how we can help you.

A Jesus-centered service with Bible-based preaching. Our Sunday Gatherings are simple in form: centered on God’s grace and driven by God’s word. Following a pattern traced back to the early church, you can expect four elements at our weekly gathering: worship songs, prayer, preaching, and communion. Simply put, the purpose of our gatherings is to delight in God’s truth, declare His goodness, and display the beauty of who He is, what He has done, and all He has promised in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Indoor and outdoor seating are available. We are meeting in a large room on the property with a rollout back door that will remain open during the service (weather permitting, of course). A few seats will be set up in this outdoor area for those who wish to sit outside.

What should I wear?

There’s no dress code, so come as you are and wear what you like. Whether you are wearing a tie or dress, or shorts and sandals, you’ll likely find someone dressed just like you. We take God and His word seriously, but not ourselves—so feel free to come wearing whatever is appropriate and you’re most comfortable in. Because Jesus calls us to love our neighbors and care for the vulnerable, please arrive wearing your mask. You may remove your mask once seated. Please respect those that wish to remain socially distanced.

Is there outdoor seating?

Yes! Indoor and outdoor seating will be available. We are meeting in a large room on the property with a rollout back door that will remain open during the service. A few seats will be set up in this outdoor area, but feel free to bring your own lawn chair if you plan to sit outside.

What do you have for my kids?

Kids love learning about Jesus at King’s Cross Church!

Babies and toddlers are cared for by loving volunteers. Every other week, we have “Kids’ Church” where children in grades K through five enjoy learning about Jesus with others their age. On alternate weeks, we have a “Family-style Service” where older children are encouraged to sit in the service with their families.

What if I don’t believe in Jesus?

Everyone is welcome—including skeptics.

Our Sunday Gatherings are a great entry point for someone who is seeking, skeptical, or curious. We welcome both believers and skeptics to explore their honest questions about God and Christianity, so feel free to come with your curiosity or doubts. Our leadership team is always available after the service and throughout the week to answer your questions. No scripts. Nothing off limits. Just honest answers to thoughtful questions.

Some other questions you might have about our Sunday Gatherings:

Why do you preach through books of the Bible?

Because we believe God has revealed His truth to us in His word, we regard the preaching and teaching of the Scriptures as an essential element of a local church’s weekly gathering. We typically preach through books of the Bible verse-by-verse (expository) because we believe the Bible is best understood when each verse is seen within its proper context, as the biblical authors intended.

What Bible translation does the pastor teach from?

Pastor Chris typically preaches from the English Standard Version (ESV). We have extra Bibles you can borrow or take home with you to keep. You can find them at the Contect Table. During the sermon, we also put the scriptures on the stage screen for you so you can follow along with the preacher.

What type of church is King's Cross?

KXC is affiliated with Acts 29  and Pacific Church Network and is a gospel-centered church rooted in historic reformed baptist confessionalism. Our members come from a variety of faith backgrounds: from atheist or agnostic to mormon or buddhist to roman catholic or anglican to baptist or presbyterian and everything in between.

As a local church, our mission is to make wholehearted disciples of Jesus Christ who authentically live for the glory of God and the good of others in the everyday stuff of life.

Learn more about our vision here, and about our beliefs here.

How often do you serve communion?

We serve communion (also called the Lord’s Supper) every Sunday. Communion is for Christians and reminds us of Jesus’ body broken and blood shed on the cross—in our place and for our sins. Those who have been baptized into the Christian faith are welcome to partake in the communion meal. Those who are not believers and/or have not been baptized into the faith are invited to observe and reflect during this time.

Can I talk to a pastor after the service?

Our pastor and leadership team are available after the service to pray with you or answer any questions you might have about Jesus and what it means to follow Him.
